1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Fresno Crash on Westbound Highway 180
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (April 10, 2021) – A car crash killed one person and seriously injured two others along Highway 180 in Fresno.
According to The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News, the tragic accident occurred on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 4:45 p.m.
The incident happened when a GMC Yukon was driving east on Highway 180, approaching DeWolf Avenue, in Fresno. At the same time, a Audi SUV and a Ford Focus were going west.
For an unknown reason, the right rear tire of the GMC blew out. The California Highway Patrol said Yukon spun out of control and then crossed the center median.
Multi-Car Collision Near DeWolf Avenue
The GMC slammed head-on into the Audi and the Ford. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced the woman driving the Audi dead at the scene.
CHP affirmed that the male driver of the GMC and the motorist in the Focus suffered major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed them to the Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, officials forced the Highway 180 to shut down for a time following the crash.
The cause of the fatal Fresno collision is still under investigation.
