Man Killed in Fresno Hit-and-Run Crash on Shields Avenue
FRESNO, CA (July 11, 2021) – A pedestrian was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Shields Avenue in Fresno.
According to The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley, the tragic accident occurred late Saturday night. Officers reported the collision shortly before midnight.
Fresno police said the incident happened on July 10 when a male pedestrian was standing in the middle Shields Avenue trying to cross the street.
Pedestrian Hit by Several Vehicles
For an unknown reason, a white truck hit him. After some time, another vehicle struck the man in his 30s. The two drivers did not stop to render aid and fled the area.
At least one other motorist ran over the victim, described as a transient, in the roadway. Police affirmed that the last driver stopped after hitting the pedestrian and stayed at the site.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police forced Shields Avenue between Tielman and Channing avenues to shut down following the collision. The fatal Fresno hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
