Man in 90s Hurt in Fresno Pedestrian Accident
FRESNO, Calif. (Jan. 31, 2020) — Leonardo Molina, 90, was critically injured Thursday night in a car accident while crossing a Fresno intersection in a motorized wheelchair.
The pedestrian was struck by a driver who was making a left-hand turn at Marks Avenue and Sussex Way, according to the Fresno Bee. Although there was no marked crosswalk, the pedestrian was making a legal crossing, police said.
The man who was in the wheelchair struck his head upon impact and was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center where he is being treated for major injuries, the report said.
Meanwhile, the driver involved stopped and told police he didn’t see the victim until it was too late.
Neighbors who live in the area say they would like the city of install crosswalk markings here as it is dangerous for pedestrians.
The collision remains under investigation by police to determine liability.
