Man Killed in Fresno Hit-and-Run Crash on Shaw Avenue Near Jennifer
FRESNO, CA (August 28, 2021) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash on Shaw Avenue in Fresno.
According to The Fresno Bee and ABC 30 News, the accident took place late Friday night. Officers reported the collision at around 11:30 p.m.
The incident happened on August 27 when a male pedestrian was pushing a shopping cart across the eastbound lanes of Shaw Avenue in Fresno.
Police said for an unknown reason, a vehicle struck the 60-year-old man in the roadway. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene near Jennifer Avenue and Golden State Boulevard.
Pedestrian Hit by Car
They found the victim left lying on the ground. He sustained multiple broken bones and a collapsed lung as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed him to the Community Regional Medical Center and listed him in critical condition. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded patient.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the man and sped eastbound on Shaw Avenue. They described the car as a dark-colored lifted pickup truck.
Officers forced a stretch of the roadway to shut down for several hours following the collision. The Fresno hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
