FRESNO, CA (April 1, 2022) – A child was hospitalized after a DUI crash involving the Fresno police at Clinton and Marks avenues.

According to The Fresno Bee and FOX 26 News, the accident took place on Friday evening. Officers reported the wreck at around 6:45 p.m.

The incident began when a Fresno police officer was driving to assist a CHP officer responding to a traffic stop of a stolen vehicle in the city.

The police then went north through the intersection of Clinton and Marks avenues with his lights and sirens on. A white Toyota approached and broadsided the patrol unit.

The officer lost control of the SUV, jumped over the center median and collided with another vehicle. He was traveling with a K-9 at the time.

A 10-year-old child riding the third car complained of pain as a result of the collision. Paramedics soon rushed the juvenile to the hospital for further aid.

Meanwhile, police determined that the 30-year-old man driving the Toyota was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the officer.

They soon arrested the suspect who was on probation for a past DUI. Officers forced the area of Clinton and Marks avenues to shut down for several hours following the wreck.

The Fresno DUI crash is still under investigation.
