FRESNO: Semi-Truck and Car Crash on Chestnut Avenue, Annadale Avenue

UPDATE: Fatal Two-Vehicle Fresno Collision Involving Extrication and Road Closures
FRESNO, Calif. (June 29, 2026) — A fatal crash involving a semi-truck and an Acura blocked Chestnut Avenue in Fresno Monday morning, requiring firefighters to extricate at least one occupant and forcing the closure of northbound lanes.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 7:17 a.m. at South Chestnut Avenue and East Annadale Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Initial dispatch information indicated the collision involved the semi-truck and an Acura sedan. An open line from one of the involved parties was also reported shortly after the crash, suggesting possible injuries. The Acura reportedly had major front-end damage, and at least one person was trapped. Later updates confirmed at least one person died following the collision.
By about 7:28 a.m., CHP requested additional units to assist with traffic control as the incident blocked the roadway. Authorities later reported that the roadway was obstructed and that northbound Chestnut Avenue was closed near Arnold Avenue while emergency crews worked at the scene.
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) advised that firefighters performed an extrication at approximately 7:32 a.m. Dispatch records identified Captain Jose Medina and Engineer James Limbaugh with CAL FIRE Ladder 87 among the emergency personnel responding.
As of approximately 7:44 a.m., CHP confirmed the closure of northbound Chestnut Avenue while first responders continued their investigation and cleared the wreckage.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes while emergency crews completed their response.
