Two Injured in Collision on Lincoln Avenue Between Van and Truck
FRESNO, Calif. (Nov. 22, 2024) – Two people were injured early Friday morning when their van broadsided a semi-truck trailer at East Lincoln Avenue, just east of Del Rey Avenue in Fresno County.
The traffic accident occurred on Nov. 22nd when a big rig truck was slowly backing up its trailer into an orchard as part of a harvesting operation. The driver of an oncoming white van crashed into the side of the white truck’s green trailer which was blocking the roadway.
The large white van had major front-end damage and its driver was trapped with airbags deployed.
The City of Selma Fire Department and Fresno County firefighters responded to the scene to free the occupants from the van and help those injured.
Paramedics responded and transported two people from the van who were injured. The man who was driving the van was treated for major injuries and a passenger in the vehicle had minor injuries.
It’s unknown if speed was a factor for the driver in the van or if the truck driver had adequate lights on the trailer at the time of the pre-dawn crash.
Police told reporters the truck driver was legally backing up, but they are heading up an investigation into liability for the crash on Lincoln Avenue in Fresno.
