FRESNO, California (April 6, 2016) — A 75-year-old woman pedestrian was killed Tuesday when she was struck by a motorist while attempting to walk across El Paso Avenue, according to ABC News 30.
The fatal pedestrian crash took place in the Northeast Fresno community at the intersection of Fresno Street.
Per the Fresno Bee, the driver of a 2004 Ford Explorer struck the victim identified as Ellen Ma, 75, as she was inside the means of a marked crosswalk upon being hit by the SUV’s front right side of the vehicle.
Ma was rushed to the trauma center, where she did not survive her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The driver was a 72-year-old man who remained at the scene of the crash and was interrogated by police.
The driver was not arrested.
