FULLERTON: Pedro Pineda-Navarro, 28, Killed in DUI Wrong-Way Crash on South Lemon Street
At Least 3 Others Hospitalized
FULLERTON, California (July 31, 2016) – A suspected DUI wrong-way crash left one dead and several others injured on South Lemon Street early Sunday morning, according to The Orange County Register.
The crash took place at 2:45 a.m., south of East Valencia Drive.
As per the article, police said a 2015 Honda Civic was driving south on the northbound lanes of South Lemon Street when it collided head-on with an 2004 Lincoln Aviator.
The coroner’s office said a 28-year-old passenger in the Honda, Pedro Pineda-Navarro, was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center where he died. He was from Placentia.
Meanwhile, the driver and two other occupants in the Honda were also transported to a hospital and were listed in critical condition.
According to The Orange County Register, police reported that both drivers appeared to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the deadly wreck. The motorist in the Lincoln was initially taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving but was later released.
The incident remains under investigation.
