Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on 5 Freeway
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (June 5, 2023) — Gabriel John Novello, 47, of San Diego, died in a motorcycle accident on the Interstate 5 Freeway in Chula Vista.
The multi-vehicle crash occurred at the L Street overpass and Bay Boulevard around 9:34 p.m. on Sunday, on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista, authorities said Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the rider was traveling on the freeway and collided with other motorists due to unknown circumstances. The rider reportedly slid across lanes and wound up in the No. 2 lane of the freeway.
Paramedics responded and rushed him to UC San Diego Medical Center where he later died at 10:28 p.m. the same day.
The San Diego Medical Examiner identified Gabriel Novello as the man who died.
The CHP is heading up the investigation into liability for the Chula Vista motorcycle accident.
