Man riding bicycle struck by vehicle in Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. (June 4, 2024) — Gabriel Ortega, 54, of Fresno, died in a bicycle accident involving a car Sunday afternoon at Stanislaus Avenue and Van Ness Avenue in downtown Fresno.
The bicyclist was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Gabriel Ortega of Fresno.
The traffic accident occurred after the cyclist reportedly “made an unsafe turn,” according to police, but there are no further details.
Paramedics responded and rushed Gabriel Ortega to a hospital, but he died from his injuries. Meanwhile, the driver involved stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the collision.
Authorities do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
