Gabriel Vasquez Killed in Crash at South Hayes Avenue Near Raisin City
Fresno, CA (May 29, 2025) — Gabriel Vasquez, 20, of Raisin City, died in a crash last Thursday morning at South Hayes Avenue and West Huntsman Avenue near Raisin City in rural Fresno County,
Head-on Collision Near Raisin City
The collision occurred around 5:11 a.m. on May 22nd at the Fresno County intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The young man was driving a GMC Terrain southbound on Hayes Avenue when for unknown reasons he veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on into a Toyota Camry.
The unrestrained driver in the GMC suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the two 21-year-old Fresno men in the Toyota survived with moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital.
Two tow trucks were requested, and the road was temporarily closed for cleanup and investigation.
The Fresno County Sheriff Coroner identified the man who died as Gabriel Vasquez. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but detectives are considering whether or not the GMC’s driver suffered a medical emergency.
