Gabriel Ventura Fullerton Crash on Garnet Lane and Sapphire
Sergio Sevilla Arrested for Hit-and-Run
FULLERTON (July 3, 2017)- According to the Orange County Register, Gabriel Ventura, 20, of Fullerton, has been identified as the victim fatally injured in a hit-and-run collision Sunday night in adjacent to Topaz Elementary School.
The incident occurred at roughly 9:14 p.m. at the intersection of Sapphire Road and Garnet Lane involving a solo vehicle.
The driver of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Sergio Sevilla, 20, had been headed eastbound on Garnet making a turn onto Sapphire at a high rate of speed before sharply hitting a curb and rolling the vehicle over multiple times.
Two passengers accompanied Sevilla, one who left the scene on foot with Sevilla and the other, Gabriel Ventura, who sadly did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second passenger who originally left the scene returned and spoke with authorities regarding the incident.
At around 1:15 a.m., Sevilla phoned police officials and turned himself in as law enforcement arrived at his Yorba Linda home and arrested the 20-year-old man. He faces multiple charges including vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. He remains jailed at Fullerton City Jail in the meantime.
It remains unclear whether or not the other passenger was placed under arrest.
We offer our warmest of thoughts, our prayers, and condolences to the family members of Gabriel Ventura as they search for peace and comfort.
