Rollover Crash on North Avenue in Fresno County (Updated)
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (July 14, 2021) — Gaige Whittle, 27, of Fresno, died in a crash on North Avenue at De Wolf Avenue Wednesday morning.
Two black cars collided and both overturned and landed back on their wheels in a nearby almond orchard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The two-vehicle crash happened about 9:39 a.m. on July 14th, police said. A man driving a Nissan Sentra on De Wolf Avenue allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, a driver in a Honda Accord traveling on North Avenue collided with the Nissan. That is when both vehicles went off the roadway into the orchard.
Paramedics responded to treat at least one person for major injuries. Gaige Whittle, who was driving the black 2005 Nissan Sentra, was allegedly not wearing a seatbelt. He was airlifted Community Regional Medical Center and later died of his injuries.
Tow trucks removed the Nissan Sentra and the other black car from the scene.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
No further details are available at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Gaige Whittle.
