Galen Wallace, 23, Seriously Injured in Feather River Canyon Crash on Highway 70
PLUMAS COUNTY, CA (January 19, 2021) – Galen Wallace was seriously injured after a crash along Highway 70 in the Feather River Canyon.
The California Highway Patrol said the 23-year-old Oroville man ended up hospitalized following the wreck on Monday afternoon.
The incident happened when Galen Wallace was driving a 2020 white Ford Transit 350 van, contracted by FedEx, west on Highway 70. At the same time, a 2007 black Ford F-150 truck was going east.
The two vehicles were approaching each other in a sharp curve when for an unknown reason the pickup crossed over the centerline. In the process, the truck entered the westbound lane.
Tanya Blust, 43, Also Hurt in Collision Near Rush Creek Road
CHP determined that its driver, 43-year-old Quincy resident Tanya Blust, slammed into the van in a head-on manner. The accident occurred on January 18 west of Rush Creek Road.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found Wallace unconscious and trapped inside the van. They soon extricated him from the wreckage.
According to the article published by the Plumas News, medical personnel rushed Wallace to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries.
Meanwhile, Blust sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. CHP added that she was traveling at a stated speed of 50 mph when the crash took place.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.
