Garbage Truck Overturns in Thousand Oaks Crash on Highway 23
Fiery Rollover Collision on State Route 23
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (August 1, 2024) — A garbage truck and a work truck were involved in a fiery crash Thursday in Thousand Oaks on the Moorpark Freeway also known as State Route Highway 23.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 10:46 a.m. on August 1st, near Avenida De Los Arboles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials report the drivers of a garbage truck and a white GMC work truck were involved. The vehicles collided in the northbound No. 3 lane on SR-23 or Highway 23. The trash truck reportedly caught on fire following the collision and was fully engulfed in flames. The GMC truck had moderate left-side damage.
Meanwhile, paramedics from the Ventura County Fire Department responded to help at least one person with injuries and took them to a hospital.
Tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles and investigators are working to determine fault for the Thousand Oaks garbage truck crash on Highway 23.
