FRESNO, Calif. (May 28, 2018) — A Ford SUV carrying Chinese tourists allegedly cut off a garbage truck causing the vehicles to collide and both overturned Monday on Highway 41 in central Fresno, the California Highway Patrol said.
The Ford SUV was attempting to merge from northbound 41 onto the westbound Highway 180 connector ramp about 9 a.m. this morning. The garbage truck was reportedly unable to avoid a collision with the passenger vehicle and the two collided in heavy Memorial Day traffic. There were at least three people in the SUV, but no one was seriously injured as they were all wearing seat belts, the report said. The truck driver was treated at the scene by paramedics, but it’s unknown if anyone was hospitalized.
The crash remains under investigation by police to determine liability.
