Man Killed in Hit-and-run Crash in Garden Grove
GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2018) – A 22-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Thursday night while crossing outside a marked crosswalk on Brookhurst Street near Crosby Avenue, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.
There were two vehicles that struck the victim about 9 p.m. last night. One of the vehicles fled the scene without stopping to help the injured man.
The suspect was initially struck by a woman driving a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV. The driver stopped, but the victim was thrown into another lane where he was hit by a driver in a dark-colored sedan that sped off. Unfortunately, the pedestrian died of their injuries following the collision.
The Garden Grove police department is heading up the investigation. Witnesses or anyone with information about the suspect or the collision, may call investigator Paul Ashby at (714) 741-5823.
Police are heading up an investigation into the cause of this crash and will examine the evidence at the scene, take measurements and speak to those involved as well as witnesses. The family of the man who died may consider filing a wrongful death claim to recover their financial losses.
