2 Vehicles Overturn in Fatal Crash in Greenview
GREENVIEW, Calif. (Sept. 10, 2018) — Two vehicles overturned Monday morning in a fatal crash on Highway 3 at Main Street in Greenview, according to a California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The crash took place about 8:18 a.m. when a Honda Accord overturned and was struck by a Ford Escort that also rolled over onto its roof. Both vehicles ended up on their roof with people trapped inside the cars.
Gavin Neely, 37, of Fort Jones, was driving the 2003 Honda Accord south on Highway 3 when he veered eastbound into the northbound lane and up an embankment. His vehicle overturned and he was trapped underneath.
The Honda was struck by an oncoming 2003 Honda Accord driven by David Shepherd, 83, also of Fort Jones. The 1995 Ford Escort crashed into the Honda and also overturned. Shepherd was hospitalized after the crash, but Neely died of his injuries.
The crash is under investigation by police to determine liability. A Go Fund Me page was established to help the surviving family members of Gavin Neely.
Greenview Crash Investigation
A full investigation into what caused this collision is underway. Police will piece together evidence and speak with witnesses to determine fault.
We extend our heartfelt prayers to those who lost a loved one in this collision.
There are many steps that should be taken following a collision involving a possible wrongful death. A police report will be necessary to file an insurance claim against the at-fault driver who caused the collision. However, it’s important to note that many insurance companies will fight these claims or offer far less than a person is owed.
We hope you are able to get the help you need, but if not call us at 855-703-4186 to request a free consultation.
