Jogger, Leilani Magno, 17, Struck and Killed by Hit-and-run Driver
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (July 10, 2018) — George Joseph Espinosa, Jr., 47, of Chula Vista, has been arrested on hit-and-run charges following Sunday night’s fatal crash that took the life of a teenage jogger identified as Leilani Magno, according to the San Diego 10 News and the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The suspect reportedly turned himself in at the Chula Vista Police Department about 3:35 p.m. on Monday afternoon. He was booked into the San Diego County Central Detention Facility.
The incident took place on Sunday night about 8 p.m. Espinosa reportedly was driving a white Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Lane Avenue, veered onto the sidewalk and struck the victim who was jogging on the sidewalk. He allegedly fled the scene without stopping to help the teenager. Paramedics rushed the injured girl to Mercy Hospital, but she later died of her injuries.

At this time, it appears that Mr. Espinosa will be held responsible for the death of this teenage girl.
