Gerald Fruichantie, 61, Hit and Killed by Car in Santa Clarita on Highway 14
SANTA CLARITA (April 16, 2019) – A pedestrian killed after a traffic accident along Highway 14 Friday night has been identified as Gerald David Fruichantie.
The incident began when the 61-year-old homeless man was initially seen walking north on the right shoulder of the northbound Highway 14 on April 12.
California Highway Patrol continued to receive calls about the same man walking in the slow lane of the highway, just south of Golden Valley Road.

According to The Antelope Valley Times, at the same time a 2002 Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Highway 14 to the Golden Valley Road off-ramp.
As Fruichantie was walking in a northwesterly direction within the off-ramp, the 25-year-old Tustin man driving the Honda reportedly took evasive action by steering toward the left.
The motorist failed to avoid Fruichantie and struck him. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision took place at about 9:53 p.m.
The driver of the Honda was arrested, but the charge or charges against him were not disclosed. His name was also not released.
