San Jose Bicycle Rider Killed in Crash at Morrill Ave and Capewood Drive
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2019) — Gerald Council Williams, 91, of San Jose, died in a crash while riding his bicycle at Morrill Avenue and Capewood Drive.
The fatal collision took place back in October. Williams was riding his bicycle north on Morrill Avenue when he turned left toward Capewood Drive on a red light. A driver in a 2016 Toyota RAV4 SUV was heading southbound and unable to avoid hitting the bicyclist. Williams suffered major injuries and died at the hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 23rd.
The driver of the Toyota stopped and remained on scene, police said.
The number of traffic fatalities in San Jose rose to 43 so far in 2019.
