Gerardo Granados Fatal Huntington Beach Pedestrian Accident on Beach Boulevard

Man Killed in Crash on Beach Blvd. is Identified

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2023) — Gerardo Granados, 46, of Huntington Beach, died in a pedestrian accident Sunday night on Beach Boulevard, just north of Speer Drive in Huntington Beach.

It happened around 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 10th, according to a report by the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD).

Police responded to the deadly collision on Beach Boulevard involving a pedestrian and a driver in a grey 2003 Lincoln Navigator, the report said.

The SUV was traveling southbound on Beach Boulevard in the No. 4 lane when it struck a 46-year-old Huntington Beach man. He went down in the roadway and suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported him by ambulance to a local hospital, but unfortunately he later died at the hospital. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Huntington Beach woman driving the SUV stopped and cooperated with the investigation into what happened.

Police do not suspect the driver of the vehicle had drugs and or alcohol in her system. The Orange County Sheriff Coroner identified the victim as Gerardo Granados.

Investigators from the HBPD Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are working on the case to determine fault. Witnesses are encouraged to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator
Rattanchandani at (714) 536-5231.

Finally, the deadly pedestrian accident was the first of two in Huntington Beach last night. A second happened around 10 p.m. on Springdale Street and involved a hit-and-run motorist.
