Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in San Jose
SAN JOSE, California (Nov. 1, 2019) – Gilberto Delacruz Padilla, 54, died early Saturday morning in a two-car accident on Highway 101 in San Jose.
The collision took place about 3:35 a.m. on October 26 onear McKee Road.
Padilla was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt northbound on Highway 101 when he swerved left and cut across several lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. The 47-year-old San Jose man driving a 1990s Mercedes SUV, traveling in the same direction, struck the Cobalt on its left rear end.
The Mercedes crashed into the guard rail and the Cobalt veered over to the shoulder.
Padilla suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital where he later died.
The crash remains under investigation by the CHP.
