1 Killed in Gilroy Crash on Highway 101 Near Leavesley Road
GILROY, CA (March 30, 2023) – A crash killed at least one person on Highway 101 near Leavesley Road in Gilroy.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place on Thursday evening. Officers reported the wreck on March 30 at around 7:50 p.m.
The incident happened when two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Gilroy. The cars crashed on Highway 101 near Leavesley Road.
2 Cars Collide
CHP said one vehicle went off the roadway upon impact and slammed into a barbed wire fence. The other car, a Toyota Prius, came to a rest in the center divider with major rear-end damage.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They confirmed that one individual died as a result of the collision.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP forced several lanes of Highway 101 to shut down for hours near Leavesley following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Gilroy crash is still under investigation.
