Gina Garcia Arrested Thousand Oaks Fatal DUI Car Crash on Highway 101

2 Passengers Killed in Car Accident on Highway 101 near Rancho Conejo Boulevard Thursday

Thousand Oaks, CA (February 5, 2021) – Police arrested 58-year-old Gina Garcia, of Ventura, in relation with a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Highway 101 Thursday afternoon.

The Ventura County Star reported Garcia was behind the wheel of a red Kia Sorento SUV driven traveling north on Highway 101. Per local news source, Garcia allowed the Kia to veer into the fast lane and hit a gray 2018 Chevrolet SUV. The force from the impact caused both Garcia and the driver of the Chevrolet to lose control of their cars.

As a result, the Kia careened toward the slow lane where it struck a black 2010 Toyota sedan. The Kia continued moving and drove over the right shoulder and into vegetation. Officials said the Kia rollover over and landed on its roof after slamming into a tree.

The tragic incident took place at interchange of Rancho Conejo Boulevard and Borchard Road.

Shortly after 12:10 p.m., emergency teams arrived at the location and rendered aid to all parties involved. Following the evaluation, authorities confirmed two passengers in the Kia sadly died as a result of the wreck. The names of the fatal victims, and their age remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, the news article mentioned the driver of the Chevrolet and the Toyota both appeared unharmed after the tragic incident.

Police arrested Garcia Friday after receiving treatment for major injuries. The suspect was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs while causing injury to another and on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.

Detectives handling the case continue to investigate several factors surrounding the fatal car crash.
