Girl Struck by Vehicle in Crosswalk
FRESNO, Calif. (Sept. 1, 2023) – A 12-year-old girl was injured in a pedestrian accident Thursday afternoon at North West Avenue between McKinley and Weldon avenues in Fresno.
The girl was walking home from school around 4:10 p.m. on August 31st when a driver in a silver sedan hit her in a crosswalk at the intersection, ABC 30 News reports. The truck was heading southbound on West Avenue and its driver told authorities they did not see her in the roadway until it was too late.
Paramedics responded and rushed the girl to the hospital, but she was alert and conscious at the time, according to the Fresno Police Department.
The Fresno Police Department is heading up the investigation, but preliminary indications are that drugs and or alcohol were not factors.
Finally, the Fresno pedestrian accident on West Avenue remains under investigation.
