4 Pedestrians Struck on Harris Road on Halloween Night in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Nov. 2, 2026) – A driver struck and killed a 12-year-old girl and injured another child and two adult pedestrians on Halloween night in Bakersfield along Harris Road near Marin Street.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department the collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31st in the 3800 block of Harris Road.

Two Adults, Two Children Hospitalized

A total of two adults and two juveniles were struck by the motorist and all four of them were taken to the hospital, where the 12-year-old girl later died from her injuries, police said. The second child and two adults were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital. Meanwhile, the driver involved stopped and cooperated with police officers.

Detectives working on the case determined the driver of a red Hyundai sedan was heading east on Harris Road when the motorist struck the four people who were walking southbound in an unmarked crosswalk at the Bakersfield intersection.

Police are piecing together what happened to determine whether speed or impairment contributed to the collision.
