SACRAMENTO, California (September 5, 2016) — A girl was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when a hit-and-run driver sideswiped the car she was riding in on Business 80 and she was ejected as the vehicle overturned.
A man driving a beige Buick Century struck the light blue Toyota Matrix the girl was riding in as a passenger near the El Camino Avenue exit.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the driver fled the scene of the crash and was last seen traveling eastbound on Marconi Avenue near Fulton Avenue. Witnesses told police the suspect dropped off a male passenger at a nearby 7-11 store.
Paramedics responded to the scene of the crash and transported the injured girl to UC Davis Medical Center where she was treated for serious injuries. The vehicle apparently landed on top of the girl after she was thrown from the car. The driver of the car she was in and a second passenger were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
