Suspected DUI Driver Arrested
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (July 14, 2023) –– Grace Susan Contreras, 37, of Sacramento, has been identified as the woman killed in a pedestrian accident at Jibboom Street and Richards Boulevard in Sacramento.
The deadly crash occurred around 6:35 p.m. on July 9th in front of 222 Jibboom Street, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner.
A suspected drunk driver, identified as Israel Campos, 27, allegedly struck a total of two women and two children ages 6 and 9 years old, KCRA3 reports. Police believe he was also speeding when he lost control of his vehicle and hit the pedestrians. He was arrested and faces charges of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
Meanwhile, Grace Contreras died at the scene and paramedics transported the other woman and two children to a hospital for treatment of major injuries.
