In this case, Ms. Grace Whitman is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol which is considered as a serious crime throughout the state. DUI has corresponding criminal penalties, and the kinds of the charges to be filed depend on factors including the prior convictions, if there are any, of the alleged DUI driver, the severity of the offense, the level of intoxication and the injuries caused to another individual.
Aside from DUI, Ms. Whitman is also believed to have run a red light prior to the collision. In such cases where negligence and wrongdoing are clearly factors, the driver and passenger of the Toyota will have then the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault party, seeking compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages and pain and suffering.
