2 Injured in Grantville Crash on Camino Del Rio North
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 3, 2023) – Two were injured after a car crash on Camino Del Rio North in the Grantville neighborhood of San Diego.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the accident took place late Thursday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 11:20 a.m.
The incident happened on March 2 when a Toyota pickup truck was going west in the left lane of Camino Del Rio North in Grantville. At the same time, a Honda SUV was traveling east.
For an unknown reason, the Toyota left its lane and went into the dividing section. In the process, the pickup truck slammed head-on into the Honda.
2 Cars Collide
Police said the two crashed just west of Fairmount Avenue. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found both drivers hurt.
The 95-year-old man driving the Toyota sustained life-threatening injuries, including several fractures, as a result of the collision. The motorist in the SUV, a 77-year-old woman, complained of pain in her chest.
Medical personnel then rushed both patients to the hospital for treatment. The reports did not release the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police forced a stretch of Camino Del Rio North to shut down following the wreck. The cause of the Grantville crash is still under investigation.
