Driver Killed in Car and Truck Accident on Interstate 5 Sunday
Grapevine, CA (April 5, 2021) – On April 4, Sunday, 48-year-old Gerardo Camarena suffered injuries following a traffic collision on Interstate 5 near Grapevine.
The KGET News reported a 2010 Nissan was traveling at a high rate of speed heading north on I-5. In the area near Grapevine Road, the driver of the Nissan attempted to overtake a 2012 Freightliner tractor-trailer. In the process, the Nissan driver failed to slow down and slammed into the back of the Freightliner.
Officials mentioned the force from the impact resulted in major damage to the Nissan; and also damaged the rear axle of the Freightliner.
Shortly after 3:10 a.m., the Kern County Fire Department arrived at the crash site. Medical personnel reportedly found the Nissan driver pinned in the wreckage and unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the man but he sadly succumbed to their injuries and died.
Truck Driver Gerardo Camarena Injured in Grapevine Traffic Collision
Our sources later mentioned the truck operator, Gerardo Camarena suffered minor injuries in the collision. The condition of the truck driver at this time remained unknown.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
