Black BMW Engulfed in Flames Following Collision with Semi Truck
Grass Valley, CA (June 10, 2025) — A fiery Grass Valley crash involving a black BMW and a white semi truck shut down northbound lanes of the Golden Center Freeway Tuesday afternoon near Dorsey Drive.
At least one person was taken to the hospital and the car caught fire, prompting an emergency response.
The crash occurred shortly after 2:15 p.m. on June 10th, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Initial reports indicated the black BMW 325 collided with a white semi truck, causing both vehicles to block traffic lanes. Within minutes, smoke was seen rising from the BMW, before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene quickly. A 32-year-old male driver of the BMW was found bleeding, conscious, and possibly suffering from a concussion, according to dispatch communications. He was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance. The exact extent of his injuries has not yet been confirmed.
At 2:26 p.m., CHP units reported that the trailer attached to the semi truck was also catching fire, raising concerns about hazardous materials and traffic safety. Fire crews from Grass Valley responded and successfully contained the blaze.
Traffic was heavily impacted as authorities initially closed all northbound lanes of the freeway. By 2:47 p.m., one lane had reopened, with both lanes expected to be clear within 30 minutes. In the meantime, drivers were being diverted to alternate routes, including Idaho Maryland Road, to ease congestion in the area.
Advanced Tow was dispatched to remove the damaged vehicles, and Grass Valley Police Department assisted with traffic control and detours.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation. CHP has not confirmed whether drugs, alcohol, or speed were contributing factors.
Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and to expect residual delays as cleanup and investigation efforts continue.
