1 Seriously Injured in Greenfield Crash on Highway 101 Near Walnut Avenue
GREENFIELD, CA (January 23, 2022) – A wrong-way crash seriously injured at least one person on Highway 101 near Walnut Avenue in Greenfield.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the wreck took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the accident at about 6:14 p.m.
The incident began when a vehicle was traveling the wrong way on northbound Highway 101 in Greenfield. The wrong-way driver then slammed head-on into another car, just south of Walnut Avenue.
Wrong-Way Driver Hits Another Car
CHP described the two cars as an SUV and a sedan. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and found one person hurt.
The patient sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then took the wounded party to a hospital for treatment.
The report did not disclose the name of the patient and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP forced the northbound lanes of Highway 101 to shut down near Walnut following the wreck.
The Greenfield crash is still under investigation.
