At Least 1 Killed in Collision on Highway 89 Friday
Greenville, CA (January 28, 2022) – The California Highway Patrol group reported a fatal traffic accident that occurred on State Route Highway 89 Friday morning.
Initial records indicated a semi truck careened off the traffic lanes for an unknown reason. The big rig continued driving and plunged down the embankment near Crescent Grade.
The CHP logged the incident at about 8:43 a.m.
When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the driver of the truck trapped in the wreckage. Responding firefighters worked extensively to pull up the victim. Despite life-saving measures, the man sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Several factors surrounding the incident have not been discussed thus far. At this time, investigators continue to work to determine the precise circumstances that led up to the collision on State Route 89 in Greenville.
