Man Dies in Hospital After Crash in National City
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 20, 2023) — Gregorio Arreaga, 49, of National City, died Sunday when a vehicle struck his pickup truck parked at a Park n Ride lot on Sweetwater Road in National City.
The deadly collision occurred around 4:58 p.m. on Sept. 17th at 2300 Sweetwater Road in National City located in San Diego County.
The victim was “standing in the bed of a parked pickup truck within a Park n Ride,” according to a report by the San Diego Medical Examiner.
A driver struck his pickup truck and the victim was thrown out of the truck and landed underneath another another parked vehicle, the coroner said.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured man to Scripps Mercy Hospital. However, despite lifesaving measures on the way to the hospital, Gregorio Arreaga died two days later at 7:47 a.m. on Sept. 19th, the coroner said.
The CHP is heading up the investigation into the crash.
