Fatal Piru Bicycle Collision on Highway 126
PIRU, Calif. (Oct. 29, 2020) — Gregory Alcozar, 36, was struck and killed Tuesday while riding a bicycle on Highway 126 at Main Street.
The fatal crash was reported at 5:45 a.m. at the Piru intersection, just east of Fillmore, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The cyclist was heading westbound on Highway 126 when a 2016 Nissan Sentra traveling in the same direction hit him. The driver stopped and cooperated with the police investigation. However, the full circumstances that led to the crash were not disclosed.

Meanwhile, the Ventura County Fire Department responded to the crash scene and pronounced the victim dead upon their arrival.
Meanwhile, the roadway was being cleared and police were investigating the fatality. Caltrans made a hard closure of the roadway to allow for the investigation.
