Man, 61, Riding Scooter Struck and Killed in South LA
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2025) – Gregory Vaughn Simpson, 61, died in a hit-and-run crash while riding a scooter on Manchester Avenue in South Los Angeles.
The pedestrian accident occurred in the 100 block of Manchester Avenue around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5th, just east of Main Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A driver in a westbound vehicle struck the victim as he rode his scooter in the same direction along Manchester, police said. The victim suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later identified him as Gregory Vaughn Simpson.
Finally, the LAPD is heading up an investigation into the hit-and-run crash, but they have not provided a description of the vehicle at this time.
