GROVER BEACH: David Fear Dies from Dog Attack Injuries; Betty Long Injured
Fear who had been on a walk noticed a woman identified as Betty Long, 85, being attacked by a dog as she walked her two smaller dogs on Nacimiento Avenue.
Fear attempted to get pull the dog off of Long and intervene, however, he was unsuccessful in doing so and was gravely injured including a severed hand.
Fear was rushed to Sierra Vista Med Center, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries Friday.
Long was also seriously injured and rushed to a hospital.
The scene itself was morbid as blood and torn clothing was all over the ground, according to a neighbor identifying himself as Craig Perry.
Per the article, the dog’s owner who remains to be identified had apparently been out of town as it is unclear how the dog was able to escape and be out in the open. The dog has since been put to sleep.
The Grover Police Department will be investigating the incident.
