Guillermo Soto Fatal Crash Highway 101, Near Seacliff in Ventura County
Man, 40, Killed in Crash on Highway 101
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (Feb. 26, 2024) — Guillermo Soto, 40, of Santa Barbara, died after one of two separate car crashes Sunday on Highway 101 near the Seacliff exit to Carpinteria in Ventura County.
The collisions involved one with at least five cars and another between the Santa Barbara man and a hit-and-run motorist, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the multi-vehicle crash at around 12:53 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25th.
Traffic slowed down in the area behind the multi-vehicle crash where vehicles had rear-ended one another. Roughly a half mile away from the first collision, the Santa Barbara man’s car became stopped in traffic and was rear-ended by another vehicle.
Paramedics responded and requested a medical helicopter to help one person with major injuries. The victim was take to the Ventura County Medical Center.
Meanwhile, the driver who crashed into the victim’s car failed to stop after the deadly crash.
Guillermo Soto later died at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura.
Traffic investigators are working on the case and they reopened the highway at about 2:45 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol logs.
