1 Killed, 1 Hurt in Collision Near Pond Road Thursday
Wasco, CA (April 8, 2022) – Guillermo Valera, a 57-year-old man, suffered injuries following a traffic crash that occurred on Highway 43.
The KGET News reported an SUV and a sedan collided in the area near Pond Road Thursday afternoon. According to the article published online, the Toyota Corolla was heading west on Pond Road. The driver apparently yielded at the posted stop sign when they approached the intersection at Highway 43.
The California Highway Patrol group said the Corolla eventually drove through the crossing. For an unknown reason, a Ford Expedition traveling north on SR-43 also drove into the intersection. The two vehicles ended up crashing into each other, and veering off the roadway.
Shortly after 3:45 p.m., rescue teams arrived at the site. First responders found both the Corolla and Expedition rolled down a ditch.
Authorities confirmed the driver of the Corolla sadly died as a result of the collision.
Guillermo Valera Injured in Wasco Crash on Highway 43
Meanwhile, the driver of the Expedition reportedly sustained minor injuries as a result of the wreck. Officials later identified the injured party as Guillermo Valera, of Hanford.
Detectives continue to investigate the precise cause of the deadly car accident on Highway 43 in Wasco.
