GUSTINE, California (March 27, 2017) – A bicyclist was seriously injured after a suspected hit-and-run crash on 7th Street late Saturday, March 25, according to Merced Sun-Star.
The accident took place about 11 p.m.
As per the article, Gustine police said 47-year-old Sean Souza was riding his bicycle on 7th Street when he was struck by a light-colored sedan.
Souza was transported to a hospital in Modesto with major trauma injuries to the face, chest and back. The condition of the Gustine man was not immediately disclosed.
Meanwhile, the driver involved apparently did not stop and left. Police added that the car was traveling at a very high rate of speed at the time of the collision and last was seen going west on South Avenue.
The car appeared to have sustained major damage to its hood, front bumper and windshield as a result of the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Gustine Police Department at 209-854-3737.
