Haley Coreas, 22, of Van Nuys Killed by DUI Driver in Van Nuys Pedestrian Accident

VAN NUYS, California (October 12, 2014) –  A 22-year-old woman was killed Saturday night when she was hit by a suspected DUI driver while she was walking on a sidewalk on Sepulveda Boulevard, near Victor Boulevard, according to a report by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The collision was reported at 11:50 p.m. on Saturday, October 11. Roberto Jimenez, 22, of Van Nuys is suspected of driving his 1999 Toyota 4Runner that night while allegedly being under the influence of alcohol. He was in the SUV heading southbound on Sepulveda when he veered into the curb and up onto the sidewalk. The car struck a woman who was walking on the sidewalk before hitting a block wall and overturning onto its side.

The woman, who was identified as Haley Coreas, 22, of Van Nuys, died at the scene of the crash.

Police arrested Jimenez on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses are asked to contact Valley Traffic Division detectives at (818) 644-8031.
