Harley Lujan San Luis Obispo motorcycle crash on Highway 46Woman Riding as Passenger on Motorcycle Killed in 3-Vehicle Crash

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2018) — Harley Nicole Lujan, 27, of Porterville, died when the motorcycle she was riding on collided with two cars on Highway 46, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash took place about 6 p.m. on Sept. 16. Ryan Pavone, 30, of Porterville was riding his 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle with Lujan as a passenger. They were traveling at speeds of 65 mph eastbound on Highway 46, just west of Arbor Road, according to the CHP.

The motorcycle struck a Nissan parked on the right shoulder and the impact threw Lujan from the motorcycle. Meanwhile, Pavone and the motorcycle slid northeast, police said.

Brian Terrizzi, 49, of Templeton was driving a 2010 Ford westbound on Highway 46 about the same time near Arbor Road. As the motorcycle slid towards his vehicle, the two crashed on the left side of the Ford.

Lujan died of blunt force trauma at the scene. Pavone was transported by ambulance to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo with major injuries.

San Luis Obispo Crash Investigation

The collision remains under investigation by police, but it appears that the motorcyclist is legally responsible for his passenger’s death.

Our condolences go out to the family of the woman who died.

There are many steps that should be taken following a collision to ensure your legal rights are protected, but this can vary depending on the circumstances.

An injured person should seek out immediate and ongoing medical care until they are completely better.  If someone has died, a wrongful death claim may be pursued by surviving family members against those responsible and or their insurance company.
