Harold Sawyer Jr., 71, Injured in Vacaville Crash on Interstate 80
VACAVILLE, CA (August 12, 2021) – A fatal car crash injured Harold Sawyer Jr. on the Interstate 80 in Vacaville.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 71-year-old Albany man as one of the victims in the collision which occurred on Thursday morning.
The incident began when Harold Sawyer Jr. was driving a Hyundai Ioniq east on the Interstate 80 in Vacaville. At the same time, a Toyota Camry traveling the same direction went into the median.
CHP said the Toyota went back to the freeway and slammed into the Hyundai at the Interstate 505 interchange. A Honda Civic, a Volkswagen and a GMC Sierra then collided with the Camry.

Harold Sawyer sustained minor injuries as a result of the Vacaville crash. Paramedics took him and the driver of the Volkswagen to the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center for treatment.
The Reporter wrote that the accident took place shortly before 5 a.m. Meanwhile, the female motorist in the Toyota ended up ejected from her car due to the impact of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced her dead at the scene. CHP forced the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 80 to shut down for hours following the wreck.
The operator of the Honda, 42-year-old Antioch resident Angel Zavala-Alvarez, and the driver of the GMC did not sustain any wound.
The cause of the Vacaville crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at 428-2100.
