Hassan Qureshi Fatal Riverside Pedestrian Accident on University Avenue
Man, 33, Killed in Suspected DUI, Hit-and-run Pedestrian Collision
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2023) — Hassan Qureshi, 33, of Highland, died in a pedestrian accident Sunday afternoon at University Avenue and Main Street in Riverside.
The deadly, hit-and-run crash occurred at around 4:08 p.m. on Nov. 5th, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
Jesus Rodriguez was reportedly driving a silver Honda Civic eastbound on University Avenue and struck the Highland man in the crosswalk, according to the Riverside Press Enterprise. The driver failed to stop after the collision.
Paramedics responded and transported Hassan Qureshi to Riverside Community Hospital, but he unfortunately died from his injuries, according to the coroner.
Meanwhile, police located the suspect in the San Jacinto area and determined he was driving under the influence, the newspaper said.
Police arrested Jesus Rodriguez on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run, authorities said.
The case remains under investigation.
