2-Vehicle Crash on the Interstate 880 Freeway in Hayward
HAYWARD, Calif. (May 3, 2022) — A Hayward car accident happened on the northbound Interstate 880 Freeway near the West Tennyson Road off ramp.
The collision occurred about 8:23 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2nd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the drivers of a blue BMW and a black Toyota 4Runner SUV were involved. The BMW reportedly suffered moderate front-end damage when it rear-ended the black SUV, police said. The Toyota 4Runner suffered rear-end damage in the crash.
Several lanes were blocked by the vehicles following the crash including the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 lanes. Paramedics responded due to minor injuries suffered by at least one of the people from the vehicles.
Meanwhile, tow trucks responded to remove both damaged vehicles from the freeway.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
