Hayward crash Interstate 880
1 Killed in Hayward Crash on Interstate 880 at Interstate 238 Interchange
HAYWARD, CA (June 20, 2021) – At least one was killed after a car crash at the Interstate 880 and Interstate 238 interchange in Hayward.
According to the East Bay Times and KTVU News, the tragic accident took place early Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:03 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol received a call about a driver who lost control for an unknown reason in Hayward. Officers arrived at the scene and then found multiple vehicles which collided in the area.
Multiple Vehicles Collide Sunday
They crashed on the southbound Interstate 880 at the interchange with Interstate 238. Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and found one person not breathing inside the wreckage.
Medical personnel confirmed that the victim died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased individual remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
The reports did not mention if any other party sustained injuries in the wreck. Meanwhile, CHP forced all lanes of the southbound Interstate 880 at the Interstate 238 to shut down following the collision.
The cause of the fatal Hayward crash is still under investigation.
