Motorcyclist Killed in Hayward Crash on Interstate 880 Near A Street
HAYWARD, CA (November 21, 2022) – A crash killed a motorcyclist on the Interstate 880 near A Street in Hayward.
According to The Mercury News and KRON 4 News, the tragic accident took place on Monday evening. Officers reported the wreck at around 6:35 p.m.
The incident began when the motorcycle rider clipped another vehicle for an unknown reason on the northbound Interstate 880, north of A Street, in Hayward.
Multiple Vehicles Collide
The California Highway Patrol said the male motorcyclist then collided with the rear of a second vehicle. A third vehicle became involved in the process.
The rider ended up ejected from the bike as a result of the collision, just south of Winton Avenue. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the other drivers sustained injuries or if they stopped following the wreck.
Officers forced the northbound lanes of the Interstate 880 to shut down near A Street after the incident. The cause of the fatal Hayward crash is still under investigation.
